Another Day in Ethiopia . . . Ethiopia Round 3, Day 9

It was another painting nails morning!  Any bets on how often we'll do that this month?  :)  Fun stuff!

After lunch we headed out to the area shops.  We were invited to a coffee ceremony by one of the local shop owners.  Her shop was the size of a closet.  A fairly small closet.  However, it was overflowing with hospitality!  She told us about her life and prepared some amazing coffee for us.  She had lived in Denmark with her husband.  He drove truck all over Europe.  She has been to most of the European countries and she speaks 7 different languages fluently.  The conversation turned serious and we were told about her family here in Ethiopia.  She returned to Ethiopia when her sister-in-law passed away.  This amazing woman returned to her homeland from Denmark in order take care of her 7 nieces and nephews.  Wow!  What an amazing woman!

The coffee she made was amazing.  There was a particular herb she used that we had never had.  It was amazing!  She talked us through the entire process and meticulously answered all of our questions about Ethiopian coffee.

She even gave "M^" jobs to help with the coffee.  "M^" does drink coffee yet, so it was good for her to help :)  We asked our host if she had all her foreigner customers over for coffee.  She smiled and said "No, this is the first time!  There was something special about you coming over."  I think the "something special" was her story about self sacrifice for her nieces and nephews.  The "something special" was her testimony and her hospitality.  We are grateful!

When we came back to the guest house we were greeted by Nanny Hiwot!!!  Nanny Hiwot had worked at our agencies transition house.  She was one of the many special women  that took care of "T" and "M^".  We were all so very happy to see her today!

Hiwot insisted on having a photo in the newest "Kodak moment" spot at the guest house!  Our friend Nati is quite the trend setter!  We really enjoyed sharing pictures with Hiwot and telling her all about how well "T" is doing.  We had to show off her schoolwork and brag a little!

After walking Hiwot to catch a taxi we stopped by a shop and purchased a couple of balls.  Upon returning to the guest house and impromptu loose game of volleyball/catch/keep away began!  Too much fun!

Another photo at the photo op spot!

And the day wouldn't be complete without our language lesson . . .
