A day of doctors . . . Ethiopia Round 3, Day 17

Look who has her PASSPORT!!!!!

Today was a very very busy day!  We woke up at 8 am to a soft knock on the door.  "M^"s passport was ready and that meant that we were able to do her medical visit.  We had 30 minutes until the taxi arrived!

First we had to get copies of "M^"s passport.  Easier said than done.  The power was out!  We went to 3 different places!  Finally we found a place with power.

This is a fruit stand by the printing place.

There are little internet/printing cafe's all over the place.  Little rooms with computers and a printer!

We have had quite the time traveling around the city.  There has been construction through the middle of the city.  They are building a train for commuters.  It has disrupted all normal traffic flow.  To top that off it's rainy season.  So this is a familiar scene!

We arrived at the hospital.  Hospitals look very different here in Ethiopia than they do in the US.

This was the waiting room where we sat for quite a while waiting for the pediatrician.

We had to go back and forth to the hospital and the International Organization for Migration.  There was a medical checkup, samples taken and then a TB test.  All day to different places and different doctors!

This is a typical scene while we're driving.  There have been many traffic jams that we've been stuck in!

As we have driven back and forth we've scene a lot of different places.  This is the entrance to the city stock yards.  People buy and sell all sorts of livestock . . . cattle, sheep, goats.

another view of the city . . .

Here is another monument in the middle of a round about.  This one commemorates the 50th anniversary of the African Union.

This is the very ritzy "downtown" area of Addis.  It's called Bole.  You can definitely tell this is where the wealthy Ethiopians choose to live and hang out.  There are many shopping centers, coffee shops, electronics stores and such.

After a long day of doctors appointments we went for dinner at Antiqua.  They had amazing pizza that was made in a brick oven.

Since we usually treat our daughter's after going to the doctor and letting people poke and prod them . . . Kevin insisted "M^" get to have ice cream that night.  I think he probably wanted ice cream too!!!
