Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. For the Burke family that means it is Smoldering Tuesday. It’s a day we always remember God placing adoption on our hearts. A day we mark as the transition into a new season, a season of pondering, of waiting, of angst. Lent is a time that we intentionally look for what God is up to in our lives. As we travel this journey in the church year we grieve for places of death, places that are lacking, hurt and damaged in ourselves and in our world. While intuitively, we know that there is the hope of resurrection coming soon, that angst and mourning are important pieces of the journey.
So for tonight, my prayers are for the lowly places, for the needs being unmet, for the forgotten, and the ignored. I pray for those who look for healing of any kind and for those whose healing will only come in arms of Christ. Tonight prayers include those who are not safe where they are and who are looking for safety that will be hard to find. I invite you to pray with me. Where are your prayers and this Lenten journey taking you?
